Best Viewpoints in Dagestan

A selection of Dagestan's strongest panoramas: Tarki-Tau, Sulak Canyon, Goor, Gunib, Pushkin-Tau, and the coast.

How to plan the trip

The best light is often in the morning or near sunset, but mountain safety matters more than the photograph. Avoid exposed edges in fog, rain, or strong wind.

  • Check the forecast and visibility before departure.
  • Never cross barriers for a photograph.
  • Carry a warm layer even in summer.

Coastal and city panoramas

Tarki-Tau, Pushkin-Tau, and the Kaspiysk coast offer broad views with relatively simple access. Use official stops and avoid parking on the road.

Mountain viewpoints

Sulak Canyon, Goor, and Aivazovsky Viewpoint require more careful planning. Check the weather, road conditions, daylight, and fuel.

Photography and safety

Do not approach unprotected edges, especially in wind, fog, snow, or ice. Keep children close and choose a safer angle instead of taking risks for a photograph.
