Makhachkala City Guide

What to see in Makhachkala in one or two days: the seafront, museums, the Juma Mosque, Tarki-Tau, and local cuisine.

How to plan the trip

Start in the centre and on the seafront, then visit Tarki-Tau near sunset. The museum and mosque fit comfortably into one city day.

  • Visit Tarki-Tau in clear weather.
  • Bring modest clothing for the mosque.
  • Leave the evening for a food walk.

Wear modest clothing for the mosque and avoid prayer times when possible. Afterwards, try a Dagestani lunch or coffee in the centre.

Evening - seafront and Tarki-Tau
