Main Waterfalls of Dagestan
A selection of major accessible waterfalls: Tobot, Saltinsky Waterfall, and water routes in the Khunzakh area.
How to plan the trip
Water levels and accessibility depend on season and rainfall. This collection covers the principal verified sites in AirDag and will expand as more places are checked.
- Waterfalls are fuller in spring, but trails can be harder.
- Do not enter narrow gorges when heavy rain is possible.
- Confirm road conditions with local residents.
Tobot Waterfall
The classic Khunzakh panorama is viewed from the plateau. Stay well back from the unprotected edge and avoid fog or strong wind.
Saltinsky Waterfall
The waterfall lies inside a narrow gorge and varies greatly with rainfall. Do not enter during rain or when flooding is possible. Wear non-slip footwear.
Matlas and nearby water routes
Conditions change with season, snowmelt, and rainfall. Confirm access locally and keep a flexible alternative for poor weather.
